Abraham Lincoln considered The Declaration of Independence to be a statement of principles upon which this republic was founded on. "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that theu are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
These principles were not created by anyone but were discovered by the brilliance of the founding fathers. It is these universal principles that are at the root of democracy world wide. Today people worldwide are seeking individual liberty and paying a high cost. The imprisonment of Aung San Suu KYI in Burma and the death of Benazer Bhutto in Pakistan fighting for the universal concept of liberty are the high costs of seeking freedom. Israel stands as a very successful democracy in an area full of dictatorships.
There has never been a major war between democracies. The battle for democracy goes on worldwide with leaders constantly emerging. But democracies also is really about individuals, We have seen people in rafts and rowboats traveling from Cuba and dying in the ocean attempting to reach freedom in the United States. Also the ongoing battle to exist for democracies Taiwan and South Korea.
We are asking you to join us in the mission of supporting democracy worldwide.
